Walls, Rocks, Stones and Life

 'White Pebbles'

Could be any planet in the Universe that has liquid flowing on it.

A splattering of vivid red across the pristine whiteness would identify it as Earth.

  'Limpets Progress Meeting'

At least I think they're limpets, and it's only a guess about the progress meeting.  They could be having a battle, or choir practice for all I know.  Note the creche in the top right hand corner.

  'Pebbles and Shade'

The Earth has spent billions of years preparing these pebbles then artfully arranging them so that I can saunter along and take a picture on a whim.

  'Iron Image'

Is it an 8?  Does it matter?  It's made of iron, and it's close to the sea, so it won't be long until it is once again iron oxide.  Just as well I took a photo.

'Rock Chewers'

Life is tough at the rock face!  I feel I am like these pioneers of life  - an isolated tin life form clinging onto the unforgiving rock face of humanity.

 'Instant Roof'

Amazing!  The Earth spends millions if not billions of years transforming materials then, in a geological flash of an eye, someone comes along, digs it up, chops around with it and puts it on the top of a house.  Bizarre.

'Lichen Shotgun'

I think they must be unhappy creatures because they always seem to trying to get away from each other.  It must be so disappointing when they run into others going the other way.

'Just Add Water and Stir'

Take some dead rock, some water, add the magic ingredient and you get colour and life.  And don't forget the life that looks at this and has its breath taken away (figuratively in my case of course).

'Iona'

I love this picture as I am fascinated by walls and the patterns they make.  Such care and attention.

'Fingal's Fingers'

Created by heat, water and gravity alone - humans surplus to requirements.

 'Mosaic Gold'

Someone clearly has a lot of patience.  I'd have got all crotchety and given up halfway through.

 'English China Clay'

Believe it or not this muck is worth something.  It's dug up in Cornwall and carted around the country by private  trains (4th class).

 'Wavy Rock'

How long did nature take to sculpture this rock?  100,00o years?  1,000,000 years?  10,000,000 years?  Does it matter?  (p.s. I spent 1 minute 47 seconds looking at it, took a picture, and moved on).
